Hani Avital,

Clinical Sexologist

What was your first memory? If you can’t think of it, you’re not alone. Most of my friends draw an immediate blank. But I’ve never forgotten mine. Here, I'll set the scene. I’m napping in my crib, or I’m supposed to be napping. I’m two years old, I’m exploring my world, I’m an adventurer. My favorite mobile turns gently on the ceiling above me but down below I’ve just found a land that’s new and exciting and feels really good...yes, seconds after my fingers have discovered my unknown land of pleasure...without warning I’m yanked out of my bliss and I’m being spanked, shamed and told that what I was doing was wrong.

I didn’t know it at the time, and I wouldn’t know it for more than three decades, but in that moment SHELAAH was born. My life’s work.

In those intervening years, my path wasn't always linear. It was more of a beautiful zigzag, honing different skills along the way. I served as a drill sergeant in the IDF, worked as a counselor to sexually abused soldiers, modeled all over Europe and the Mediterranean, graduated at the top of my class with a degree in Psychology, spent several years working as the Assistant to the Head of the World Health Organization for Serbia and Montenegro, worked as an actress on several award-winning shows and trained in Corevolutionism and Clinical Sexology.

As my beautiful zigzag took me to many different cultures all across the world, one thing became eminently clear; society has conditioned women not to trust that which feels good to them. There is an innate knowing in desire. When we are unable to tune into that compass, we often feel disconnected and shut down. Thru a lifelong journey of feeling both connected and disconnected, I discovered that the key to greater pleasure is found within, in the cultivation of one's own sensual energy. I realized that it is the cornerstone for an embodied, powerful, pleasurable and fully-expressed life. It's true north. And it’s not just for women. WE ALL have the right to re-find our own inner compass and to be empowered to pursue our pleasure unapologetically. Welcome to SHELAAH!
